Suckerfish

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

No, I’m not calling you names
Suckerfish is the name of a very popular demo to show how dropdown menus can be implemented on webpages using CSS. Of course Internet Explorer being its crappy self, it doesn’t work in there without some Javascript based workarounds. The Javascript used for the suckerfish demo works, but […]

My First gdesklet

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

Gdesklets are cool. So cool, that I’ve written my first desklet today, in a language I don’t master (python). This is the result, it sits in the lower right corner of my desktop:

It shows the playlist of a radio station I listen to a lot (freez.fm). It gets updated automagically as it changes. w00t!

Can you get to know a person by the kind of movies he watches? If so, who am I?

New Kit[2]

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

Well, pretty much all my new stuff arrived now. Together with what I already described, I also got me a LSI MegaRAID 320-2E, which is a PCI-Express based SCSI RAID controller. Too bad it doesn’t play nice with the NVidia PCI-Express video card I got on the cheap, so I’ll have to replace that […]

After selling off most of my PC stuff, I’ve bought some new too:
- 2x AMD Opteron 240 CPUs (secondhand)

- One MSI K8N Master2-FAR dual socket 940 mainboard (it’s on order)
- One Antec Titan550 server/workstation case (it’s on order too)
This will be a beast!
Just in case you wondered what happened to […]

I can read Dutch, English, German and when I’m really concentrated, French and nordic languages like Swedish and Norwegian too. I’m unable to read: Spanish, Finnish, Chinese, Russian, Portuguese, etc. Planets, however (which are the services on the ‘Net which aggregate blogs, and I prefer to grab the RSS feeds of those instead of the […]

Wow, christmas

Saturday, December 24th, 2005

Gee, it’s christmas again. Even though christmas doesn’t mean much to me either religiously (because I’m not), nor consumer technical (I hate blown over Americanisms), I did give myself a christmas present. I’ve wanted an AMD Opteron based system for a while now, and it’s slowly starting to become a reality. I’ve got a couple […]

A geek’s notes…

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

As I have nothing to write about anyways, I figured I put up a couple of pages of notes. These notes are related to a little project I’m working on. They’re not supposed to make any sense to anyone but me, but hey…who cares. This is my blog, and I do what I’ll damn well […]

Memes

Monday, October 3rd, 2005

Long time no post, so I’ll slap the results of two more memes here.
First:

***The Keys to Your Heart***

You are attracted to those who have a split personality - cold as ice on the outside but hot as fire in the heart.

In love, you feel the most alive when everything is uncertain, one moment heaven… the […]

What I always “felt” but was never able to put in words…
